ABOUT ALLYSON

Throughout her life, Allyson Hoffmann has been drawn to the visual arts, with a major focus on drawing and painting. From a young age, she has studied art with professional instructors. Her work has achieved regional awards, such as Best of Show for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Art competition and Best of Show in Arts for Rural Texas Emerging Artists.  Not only has her work claimed recognition through competition, her work is also found in corporate and private collections throughout the state of Texas. Her work has been showcased in solo as well as group exhibitions, including Brushstrokes and Brushstrokes-New Visions. Her colored pencil drawings are filled with pattern and texture that delights the eye while her acrylic and oil paintings, her current media of concentration, have a haunting sense of time.

She shows common objects and everyday events as though the viewer has just interrupted the event.  Her more current works demonstrate a more mature and sedate color palette from the brilliant hues of previous years.

Hoffmann studied at University of North Texas, where she earned a degree in Interdisciplinary Art and Design Studies with a concentration in Arts Management. She currently lives in and is busy working on commissions in her hometown of Fayetteville, Texas.

ABOUT HER WORK

As stated by internationally renowned artist and gallerist Karen Vernon, “Allyson Hoffmann’s work is an expression of the quiet moments in time, a colorful journey into solitary experiences. She masterfully renders time and place with works that emotionally speak to each individual.”

Hoffmann’s artwork is an exploration of light and color. Each painting, whether oil, acrylic, or watercolor, is a fascinating adventure in the discovery of hue and its vibrant interplay on surface and in air. Growing up in rural America has offered Hoffmann the opportunity to explore a sedate, less hurried lifestyle. Her work explores the stories and landscape found in rural communities. Her artwork documents a history that is quickly disappearing.  It speaks of the people, the land, and the unity between man and nature.
